A Walking Journey Designed for Adventure — With Comfort Built In
The De Stilte Walking Tour offers a carefully curated three-day walking experience set on a private farm near Tulbagh. Guests move through fynbos-rich landscapes as well as open valleys and mountain trails, returning each day to the comfort and calm of luxury glamping.
This is a self-guided yet well-supported journey, designed for couples and small groups who value long walks, time outdoors and a slower, more intentional pace — with clear routes, thoughtful planning and space to truly switch off.
THE WALKING EXPERIENCE
The Journey
The De Stilte Walking Tour unfolds over three carefully planned days, moving from gentle arrival walks into longer valley routes and rugged mountain trails. With clearly mapped paths guiding the way.
Day 1
Arrival & Sundowner Walk
2-3 KM
Guests arrive at De Stilte Farm in their own vehicles and check into their allocated luxury glamping tents. The afternoon is unhurried, giving you time to settle in, explore the farm at leisure, as well as connect with fellow walkers.
In the late afternoon, the journey begins with a guided sundowner walk of approximately 2–3 km. The route leads to a scenic dam, where guests enjoy a sundowner drink while watching the sun set over the Tulbagh Valley — a memorable introduction to the days ahead.
After sunset, guests return to base camp for a relaxed evening.
Day 2
Valley Hike & Wine Shop
20 KM
Day two is the signature walking day, featuring a 20 km valley hike through some of the most scenic terrain in the area. Along the route, walkers experience a rich variety of fynbos, sweeping valley views, and countless photo-worthy moments.
The hike concludes with a wine tasting stop at Driefontein, offering a well-earned pause before continuing on foot to Tulbagh. From there, guests are collected by shuttle and transported back to De Stilte Farm.
The afternoon and evening are free to enjoy the farm’s facilities — from a refreshing swim in the dam to a relaxed braai, fireside conversations, and a peaceful night under the stars.
Day 3
Mountain Trails
15 KM
The final day includes an approximately 15 km mountain hike, following spoor along trails in the Ceres Mountains. This route not only offers a more rugged, wilderness-focused experience but also
a fitting conclusion to the walking journey.

After full days on the trail, guests return to thoughtfully designed accommodation that blends into the natural surroundings of De Stilte Farm. Each option offers comfort, warmth and privacy. Rest, reset and wake up ready for the next day’s walk.

Full Luxury Glamping
Minimum group booking (6 guests)
This package includes exclusive use of a luxury glamping camp with three 5m tents on raised decks. Ideal for friends / couples, each accommodates six guests and offers shared bathrooms plus communal features like hot tubs, fireplaces, panoramic views, or riverside relaxation areas, depending on the camp.
Guests enjoy 2 nights at De Stilte Farm, access to communal facilities & the 3-day walking journey with mapped routes and logistics.

The premium glamping tents offer a more secluded and spacious option, ideal for couples seeking added privacy and comfort. Each tent features a king-size bed, seating area, indoor fireplace, coffee station, and a private en-suite bathroom with bath and shower.
This option includes full access to the walking routes, communal facilities, and all included logistics for the three-day experience

De Stilte Cottage
Private cottage accommodation
The De Stilte Cottage provides a self-contained stay with two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living and dining areas, an indoor fireplace, and a full bathroom. Outside, guests can unwind in a wood-fired hot tub and enjoy secure parking directly in front of the cottage.
This option is well suited to couples or small groups who prefer a private, home-style base while taking part in the walking tour.

This experience is designed for guests who enjoy long-distance walking and spending full days on the trail. The routes are carefully mapped and well paced, with a mix of easier and more demanding days. Clear route information allows guests to prepare and walk at a comfortable, steady rhythm.

Guests arrive at De Stilte Farm in their own vehicles. Shuttle transport is provided on Day 1 and Day 2 to support the walking routes and return guests to the farm where required.
Yes. A minimum booking of one full luxury glamping camp applies, which includes three tents and accommodates six guests. Premium tents and the cottage are also available as accommodation options.
